Three workflows a generic PDF converter does not cover.
Extract table data from images into Excel.
Turn statement transactions into structured Excel data.
Pull structured fields out of a PDF.
Compress, convert, edit and organise files in the formats people use most.
Extraction, checking and question-answering for when converting a file is not enough.
Retyping figures off a PDF is slow and it is where mistakes come from. Extraction reads the labelled values -- totals, VAT, dates, invoice and account references, contact details -- and gives you a table, with each value linked to the page it was read from so you can check it rather than trust it.
No. It matches labelled values -- 'Total: 1,200.00' -- and parses them. That means the same document always gives the same answer, and nothing can be invented. A number a model hallucinated into an accounts export is worse than no export, because it looks like data and nobody re-reads a spreadsheet.
It only reports values it can see attached to a label it recognises. A missing field is missing, which is information -- it does not guess.
Only after OCR. A scan is an image of writing until OCR gives it a text layer.
PDF to Excel returns table structure as a grid of strings. This returns typed fields -- an amount as a number, a date as a date -- each with the page it came from.
