Three workflows a generic PDF converter does not cover.
Extract table data from images into Excel.
Turn statement transactions into structured Excel data.
Pull structured fields out of a PDF.
Compress, convert, edit and organise files in the formats people use most.
Extraction, checking and question-answering for when converting a file is not enough.
A bank statement is a picture of a table, not a table. Doclium reads the rows back out of it — date, description, debit, credit and running balance — and writes them into a real Excel workbook where the numbers are numbers, so SUM and filters work on the result. What makes it trustworthy is that every row is checked against the statement's own arithmetic. If the previous balance plus or minus the amount does not equal the new balance, that row is flagged for review instead of being exported as though it were certain. That check is also what decides whether an amount was money in or money out on a single-column statement, where no amount of column-guessing can tell you. It reads US month/day and UK, European and Indian day/month dates, and works out which convention a statement uses from the statement itself rather than assuming — a date part above 12 settles it, and otherwise the reading that puts the statement in a shorter period wins. The workbook records which way it read them, so you can check.
Yes, and on a statement with a single amount column the direction is worked out from the running balance rather than guessed: if the balance went down, it was money out.
Yes. If the PDF has no text layer, OCR runs automatically as part of the export — you do not have to run it yourself first. Accuracy then depends on the scan; a clean 300dpi scan reads well, a faint fax-grade one is noisier.
It is flagged rather than quietly exported. The workbook has a Review Required sheet listing those rows with the reason, for example “balance continuity suggests 1,200.00, extracted 8,500.00”. A wrong number that looks as confident as a right one is the failure mode this is built to avoid.
Often, yes. Opening balance plus credits minus debits should reach the closing balance; when it does not, the summary says so, because a dropped row leaves every remaining row internally consistent and per-row checks cannot see it.
Yes. Amounts are written as numeric cells with two decimal places, so SUM, AVERAGE and filters work immediately. Account numbers and reference codes stay as text so leading zeros are not lost.
Your statement is uploaded to Doclium's servers and stored so the export can run on it. It is never used to train AI models, and deleting the document removes the file from the server.
